I love randomly surprising people with fun little gifts. And having a theme to go along makes it even more fun. With Christmas time coming up, I love to drop little, “You’ve Been Elfed” gifts off at friends’ or neighbors’ doors.
What’s ‘You’ve Been Elfed’?
Well it is just a little or a big something that you leave on someone’s doorstep. I usually put some candies, a homemade goodie, and something from the dollar spot at Target. Because let’s face it, I can’t stay away from there!! It can be as simple or elaborate as you want. I really think that is the beauty of these kinds of gifts. And getting the kids involved makes it even more special. I love seeing them run it up to the unsuspecting person while being all sneaky. It’s quite a cute scene.
I have put together a cute little printable and some ideas for your baskets. Print out two copies of this printable for your recipient and make sure to include it in your basket.
Here’s a list of items I found from the dollar spot at Target. I am sure that you can find similar things at many stores.
- Mini Lego Kit
- Window Clings
- Ornaments
- Bandaids
- Chapstick
- Socks (get a family set here)
- Squishies (Christmas themed ones too!)
- Coloring book
- Chocolate Coins
- A Rudolph Ceramic Craft (or something similiar)
- Surprise toy balls
These are just a few things I found. I also love to include homemade baked goodies, like brownies, cookies, or candy. I think a must for the ‘You’ve Been Elfed’ is Reindeer food. This is a craft I do with my kids every year and it is something that they look forward to. Here’s a link to our recipe.
I did find a super cute little Reindeer Food container, to put all my goodies in at the dollar spot. I haven’t seen them lately, but I have seen other cute little baskets there.
