A spin-off of the classic, “What’s in fill in the celebrity’s name bag?”…in this case, “What’s in my mom bag?”
To give a little background, I was looking for an everyday bag for the summer…something I could take to the pool, beach, throw on for pickup at my daughter’s summer camp, etc. I have a beautiful Louis Vuitton tote, but Louis will not be sunbathing at the pool…so…
Lately, I’ve been into the mini backpacks as a handbag/mom bag. My kids are both potty trained so I was able to go with a smaller backpack, but still big enough to pack up with my everyday essentials. After what felt like a never-ending search, and plenty of texts between my best friend about which backpack was the cutest yet still practical, I went with this Marc Jacobs backpack:
currently sold out 🙁
I love it because the material is nylon and I wanted something with front zippers so I could easily get to my phone, car keys and smaller items. From viewing the item online, it seemed to meet the criteria and to add, I loved the look of it. As an update, I’ve already used it at the pool, camping with my daughter, and on the weekends to shuttle my girls around, and it’s everything I wanted/needed it for.
Inside my bag are a few essentials…
- Vera Bradley zip wallet. It is the perfect size to throw in some cash, my license, and pool passes.
- Hair ties/clips. Between me and my two girls, these are just necessary.
- Sunglasses. You never know when it’ll be too bright outside.
- CVS mentholyptus cough drops. I don’t know if it’s allergies but my throat has been bothering me and these cough drops are keeping whatever is going on at bay. They are heaven sent!
- Rodan & Fields chapstick w/SPF and Blistex w/SPF. I love both of these chapsticks for everyday wear (I’m not a lipstick/lipgloss person) and the added SPF makes them perfect for the pool and/or beach.
- Cheddar Bunnies. I have two young children…need I say more about ALWAYS having a snack in my bag?!
- Beachbody Protein Bar. Okay…that one is for me. I get hangry if I don’t eat every couple of hours…it’s not pretty. These bars are great because they are delicious, low in calories, low in sugar, and high in protein.
- Purell Wipes. I have to clean up after snacks, right?
- Tissues. My oldest goes through tissues like they are going out of style. I found these adorable Kleenex travel ones with inspirational messages at Harmon’s.
- iPhone & car keys. These items are not in the picture, but I throw my iPhone in the bigger front zip pocket and my keys fit perfectly in the smaller front zip pocket.
Besides the list above, I’ll sometimes pack my bullet journal/planner, or even a book to read…depending on where I am going. If it’s off to soccer practice, I usually throw in bug spray, but the list above is my usual day-to-day items.
That wraps up my edition of “What’s in my mom bag?” What essentials do you pack in your bag??
