What we’re listening to… BossBabe Podcast
I’ve subscribed to this podcast based on a recommendation from a friend for a while now but I’ve only really started listening regularly. I really enjoy when Natalie hosts interviews with other inspiring women. I also really enjoy that the topics are deeper than simply how to make lots of money fast, which can be super common in some of these types of podcasts. The most striking thing about this Podcast (that’s very different from many) is that they never interrupt each other. In conversation, everyone listens, takes in what they heard, and then responds. It makes receiving the advice so much easier for the listener.
What we’re reading… Do Less by Kate Northrup
Lately, I’ve been really into figuring out how to play off of my natural cycle to be more efficient and productive. I’d love to be able to acknowledge and honor my feelings at different points in my cycle and capitalize on the points when I’m super creative or energized. I saw the title of a recent BossBabe episode was “How to Manage Your Time and Energy to Work Less and Make More”. It featured Kate Northrup and it hit on all of the topics that I was hoping it would. So, of course, then I downloaded her podcast, The Kate and Mike Show (come back next week to hear about that), and couldn’t get over how logical and efficient her tips were. So, of course, I bought her book.
This book is half emotional and half practical. The first half is storytelling and advice from Kate explaining the situation in her life that arose making it necessary for her to work less but make more. How she did this and how she learned to work more efficiently. The second half is an actual practical guide to put her tips in action in your life. Purchasing the book gets you a ton a freebies and access to a secret Facebook group. Kate is very personable, present, and helpful. Highly recommend any and all of her content.
What we’re watching…Mindhunter Season 2 on Netflix
Let’s start with, THIS IS DEFINITELY FOR WHEN THE KIDS ARE IN BED. Like no questions asked. I accidentally watched the season 1 recap in front of my 5-year-old and was like. “Okay, yea… let’s not”. However, this show is good. It follows the FBI team who first developed the processes for identifying serial killers. In fact, they were the first to coin the term. Its heavy and emotional. I think season 2 might just be better than season 1. Let me know what you think.
