The end of the school year is here {or will be soon} for most of us moms. It’s time to show our appreciation to the teachers who’ve loved on our kids all school year.
As a former teacher, myself, I will admit that the end of the school year was basically like a second Christmas! The parents of my former students were extremely generous and I am forever grateful. TBH, though, some end-of-the-year gifts were definitely more appreciated than others.
Note: You can, in fact, have way too many Bath and Body Works products. You do not ever need more than one of their bottles of lotion at a time. My solution, at the school I taught at, we did a toiletry drive every year before Mother’s Day. We donated the items to a local women’s shelter who put together baskets for their residents. I would save all of the body wash, lotions, and body sprays that I received at Christmas and the end of the year and donate them to the drive.
To help you make a good decision when choosing what to gift your child’s teachers, we’ve put together this list from our mama contributors and some current and former teachers.
Gift Cards
This was the top pick for both moms and teachers. It’s easy for moms to do and super appreciated by the teachers. If you are feeling like you want to dress it up a bit, you can pair the gift card with many additional items like mugs or tumblers, as Sara did in the picture below.
Here were the top picks for gift cards:
Local Brewery
Local Restaurant
Local Coffee Shop
Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks
Local Bookstore
Amazon
Target
Local Ice Cream Shop
Chick-fil-a
Homemade Suncatcher
Claire gifted her son’s teachers homemade suncatchers along with gift cards. Check out her post, next month, for the step-by-step directions for making your own homemade suncatcher with your littles.
Potted Plants
This suggestion came from our contributor, Annie. Her daughter attends a nature-based preschool so this seems like a perfect fit. Jazz this gift up with a cute, “Thanks for helping me grow” tag.
Beach Bag/Pool Bag stocked with goodies
Our contributor Erin B. suggested this fabulous idea! Grab a cute summery tote from Thirty-One and then fill it with magazines, books, snacks and a gift card. Her favorite pick is this foldaway mermaid tail tote.
Wine
Because, you know, wine.
Teachers and moms, let us know in the comments your favorite end-of-the-year gifts to receive and give!
