I am somewhat of a late bloomer and recently became obsessed with podcasts. I had no idea these suckers could be so entertaining! Since absolutely no one at all has asked, I would love to give you my opinion about some of the best podcasts out there right now. Check them out and let me know what you think!
Sinisterhood hosted by Heather McKinney and Christie Wallace
Sinisterhood is hands-down my favorite podcast. Every time I see a notification for a new episode I get stupid excited. For the hour or so that I’m listening, I feel like I’m catching up with my two hilarious friends whom I have never had the chance to meet in real life. These ladies are witty, clever and downright charming. They discuss anything and everything from true crime and conspiracies to fingerbanging. Yes. Fingerbanging comes up, surprisingly, often.
But seriously, there is literally something for everyone in this podcast. It’s extremely obvious that this is a labor of love for Heather and Christie. Each topic is carefully researched and delivered to listeners complete with Heather and Christie’s unique brand of humor and hot takes. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Seriously, if you do nothing else today, please go check them out. Make sure to subscribe, leave a review on iTunes and tell all of your friends how great they are.
Crime Junkie hosted by Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat
Crime Junkie is a weekly true crime podcast that is dedicated to giving listeners full body chills while discussing the compelling case of the week. The thing I like the most about this podcast is that these ladies know they have a voice and they use it to shine a light on cases that didn’t receive a lot of media attention. Crime Junkie takes a serious approach and they don’t tend to veer too far off course, but the podcast is still really fun at times. Crime Junkie life rules are a personal favorite of mine. If you’re into well researched true crime, you can’t go wrong with Crime Junkie. These gals work really hard. Give them a listen, and be sure to leave a review and to subscribe.
Armchair Expert hosted by Dax Shepard
This podcast is seriously amusing stuff. Dax Shepard interviews someone different in every episode. Through the interview and a lot of bellylaughing, he helps the guest weave together their life story. I think I love this podcast so much because Shepard is always portrayed in the media as kind of a doofus, here he proves that comedians are deep as fuck. I really enjoy getting a glimpse into the softer, less public version of each guest. You should definitely check it out.
Hey Babe hosted by Missy and Bryan Lanning
This podcast is my guilty pleasure. It is fun and lighthearted and I can’t help but adore Missy and Bryan (I could take or leave the other guy). They often get caught in wormholes of their own creation, but they are often whimsical and quite enjoyable. This is a great podcast to listen to when you’re having a bad day and just need a pick-me-up. It’s good old fashioned, wholesome fun. It’s kid-friendly too which is an added bonus.
Missy and Bryan also have a hella cute vlog on YouTube called Daily Bumps. They started their vlog to document Missy’s pregnancy. Sadly Missy had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and then suffered a stillbirth at 19 weeks. Instead of struggling in silence, Missy and Bryan bravely documented their struggles and used the experience to try to help other families who have experienced similar struggles. Seriously, guys, this couple is the cutest. Check them out and make sure to give them some like and subscribe love as well.
