National Popcorn Day is right around the corner, January 19, and it’s no wonder why one of America’s favorite snacks has its own holiday.
Does your family have something you constantly have to keep on hand at all times because it’s a go-to snack at your house? Popcorn is that snack for our family. Even our dog loves it! I prefer making popcorn on the stove, while my husband must have the microwavable kind – so we always have both available.
As much as we enjoy our popcorn, I have to admit it can get old. Recently, I was inspired by some of those super fancy looking popcorn advertisements you always see around the holidays and I experimented with my own creations.
Here are three easy-peasy popcorn recipes that will knock the socks off of your family or guests on your next movie night.
Salted Caramel Popcorn
What you’ll need:
- 1 bag of unflavored microwavable popcorn, or ½ cup popcorn kernels plus oil for popping
- Caramel sauce
- Sea salt
- Cookie sheet
- Parchment paper
- Spatula
Directions:
- Pop your popcorn according to package directions.
- Spread the popped popcorn over the parchment lined cookie sheet in an even layer and with little spacing between the popcorn pieces. Let it cool until it is cool to the touch.
- Once the popcorn is cool, drizzle it with the caramel sauce.
- Top off the caramel covered popcorn with sea salt.
- Move the cookie sheet to the refrigerator so the caramel can harden, or for at least an hour.
