Mom uniforms? We’ve all got one. You know, that go to outfit you throw on numerous times a week. Save for a small change here or there, it basically always stays the same. It is your second skin. Your feel at home, comfortable, and truly yourself.
Memorial Day Weekend marks the ceremonial start of summer for most, so our contributors have lined up to share their Summer Mom Uniform with you. Check them out below.
Erin – Ur Basic “Hot Mess” Mom
I’m a hot mess mom who likes to keep up the illusion that I’m capable of looking presentable. Unfortunately, with 3 kids and being forced into attachment parenting by my 7-month-old, that is nearly impossible. These are my tricks that help.
Slip-on shoes. I have no hands left to put on shoes when I am leaving the house. I love Sperry’s. Decently fashionable, comfortable and easy to get on and off.
One-piece main outfit. Wearing a dress or a romper is generally my first choice. I like not having to match tops and bottoms. This particular romper is my favorite. It is quality fabric; it doesn’t stain or stretch out. This romper also has gotten me mistaken for someone who has it together and it has pockets. It also has a zipper access that I use for breastfeeding.
Lastly, I know this is my summer essentials, but I live in Michigan, so a neutral cardigan is a must for me. I need it to be versatile enough for 30 degree temperatures, but still work with warm weather outfits as well.
Sara – Ur Basic Southern Mom
Living life in the south means it’s always HOT, and as an always-on-the-go kind of mom I must be comfortable. I am so glad I found these Universal Thread shorts from Target!!! They are so comfy, and if I’m not in these shorts I’m in some comfy leggings from The Vahl! I pair either bottoms with a comfy graphic tee about ROSE! Add a rose gold bar necklace with my kiddos names on it and let’s go.
Julie – Ur Basic Laid Back Mom
I’m a very casual boy mom. We spend most of our time running around outside. We live in Vermont, so even in summer, it can be quite chilly in the morning and the evening. Also, because we live in Vermont, literally the only clothing store within an hour is Old Navy (and I HAVE to try things on).
I love the short sleeve luxe curved hem V-neck tees from Old Navy. I have at least three and wear them for everything.
I also get my jeans at Old Navy because they are so cheap and it’s the only store around where I can try them on. My favorites are the mid-rise, curvy, skinny jeans. Like I said, it can be cool in VT even in the summer so I wear long jeans all year round. In the summer, though, I cuff them and wear them with TOMS. These are my favorites!
To appear pulled together (even if I don’t feel it), I top my look off with any chunky necklace from Stella and Dot.
Kimberly – Ur Basic SAH Mom
Once upon a time, I used to love getting dressed up and looking fashionable. Now I only get to do that at least once a week going to church on Sunday! I’m a full time SAHM mom of 3 under 4 and my everyday mom uniform is more athletic!
Although not typical, athletic wear can be very fashionable! I love the ease and comfort that it provides me. If I need to run to the grocery store or go run a quick errand, I can do so without looking a hot mess!
I love shopping online with Amazon because of its convenience! I love these tummy control mesh yoga pants!
Racer Back tops are my favorite! So cute and comfy!
I love wearing men’s athletic shoes because they fit so much better and are more comfortable for my feet!
I also switch up and wear flip flops too! I love these even with my athletic look!
Claire – Ur Basic Boy Mom
In the Arizona desert we don’t spend a lot of time outside in the summer because our days are over 100 degrees and that can just be miserable unless you are in your pool. At night it cools down to the 80s. We usually schedule a few trips to cooler weather to escape the heat. I am a fairly active boy mom. If we go out with our son, I can guarantee you I’m going to be running around chasing him because of his strong curiosity.
Simple t shirts are my favorite and this one gets bonus points for being extra soft.
These jeans are mostly cotton so they are pretty breathable, which helps keep you cooler in the heat. They were my first mid-rise jeans and I wasn’t sure what to think of the style, but I love them.
I live in flip flops year round and you can wear this simple nude color with many outfits.
I keep myself sane by adding essential oils to my diffuser necklace.
Stephanie – Ur Basic Active Mom
I’m a teacher, so the summer is such a sacred time for me. My summer consists of dropping the girls off at camp, getting my workout in, errands/cleaning, and then picking the girls up from camp. So, I basically live in comfortable/breathable workout clothes all summer (until we go to the pool in the afternoon). My favorite place to shop for workout clothes is REI, particularly the clothing by prAna. prAna isn’t the least expensive clothing out there, but I find that it’s a good investment in quality workout clothes that hold up very well over time.

I love a good pair of socks to work out in, here is a brand I like.
And as for the sneakers, I went to a new balance store and explained the types of workouts I would be doing. The man who helped me was awesome and fitted me for these. I love them! Best cross trainers I’ve found so far.
