It can’t be true. Please, say it isn’t so. Luke Perry, aka Dylan McKay, aka Fred Andrews, has died. We have all collectively shed {more than} a few tears. How can it be? He was only 52.
Reports surfaced on Wednesday that the star had suffered a massive stroke. Reportedly, he never regained consciousness and passed away, today, March 4th, surrounded by his family.
Within, literal, moments of the news breaking, all of my social media feeds were full of article shares and tributes. I quickly ran to Instagram to see how his- always ‘gramming- castmates would respond.
Here is our round up of Instagram reactions to Luke Perry’s sudden death:
News Breaks
I absolutely adore this tribute from US Weekly. Such great advice from a former teen star to the newest generation, so many of whom he mentored.
E! News jumps in and quotes the statement made by Riverdale producers.
People Magazine broke the news of production shutting down on the Riverdale set.
Costars both old and new pay tribute
One of the very first tributes posted, within minutes of news breaking, came from 90210 costar, Ian Ziering (yes, the “Sharknado” guy)
Ross Butler, who played Reggie in season 1 of Riverdale, was also quick to share his sadness.
Marisol Nichols, who plays Hermione Lodge on Riverdale, said she has no words. Same, Marisol.
Lili Reinhart took to her InstaStory to pay tribute. You can tell from her words that she is seriously crushed. E! News shared a portion of her words.
Madchen Amick, who plays Alice Cooper {Betty’s mom} on Riverdale, broke her silence with these beautiful words…
And, the official statement released by the Riverdale executive producers….
Celebs share cool stories about Luke Perry:
Here is a nice memory and story from Colin Hanks. I think all parents will appreciate this.
Still no word on Instagram from…
Current costars {and fellow “Hot Dads” of Riverdale} Marc Consuelos and Skeet Ulrich. Cole Sprouse, Cami Mendes, and TV son, KJ Apa {my heart is literally breaking for Archie} have yet to speak out and share their grief. We’re still waiting for reaction from former Beverley Hills 90210 castmates like Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling.
We’ll keep you posted on Facebook and Instagram as more costars, past and present, react to Luke Perry’s sudden death.
