The Jane the Virgin final season is finally here, y’all!!!
If you aren’t watching Jane the Virgin- what is wrong with you?!? This show has got it all. A loveable main character, a nemesis to love/hate, a close knit family, parenting challenges, and major eye candy in the form of Justin Baldoni (or Jaime Camil if you’re like my older man thirsting friend- I won’t name names). Oh, wait, and did I mention all of the murder, intrigue, plot twists, and love triangles! It is, afterall, the most epic TeleNovela, ever. There is way too much for us to review right now, but if you need to catch up, you can watch season 1-4 on Netflix. Do it.
Side note, please watch Justin Baldoni’s TedTalk.
So for the past year, we’ve all been waiting to find out WHAT HAPPENED TO MICHAEL! There are so many theories: Does he have amnesia? Is this really his twin? Is it someone posing as Michael? My personal theory is that Michael is dead and this is his brother (remember him from the first season) and he’s undergone facial reconstruction surgery to look like Michael under the control of Rose, aka Sin Rostro.
In the meantime, we’ve just been obsessing over this hyper emotional trailer. Cue the tears:
Well, we finally have SOME answers, so let’s get to it.
**** Jane the Virgin season 5 spoilers ahead, proceed with caution****
Jane the Virgin Final Season Recap- Episode 1:
Of course, we have to start with Jane being 7… not MICHAEL BEING ALIVE. WTF. Okay, we’re on Michael. What is going on? Pretty predictable, Jane faints, I would, too.
Amnesia! It was Amnesia. So, he goes by Jason now and he has a southern accent. I think I like him less now {if that was even possible}. Of course the entire thing was orchestrated by Rose, aka Sin Rostro.
Ro and Xo freak out {give us more Ro, please!} And, Alba prays, duh. Then Ro faints {love him.}
Milosz is back! (That’s Petra’s crazy ex-husband, if you forgot) He was trying to kill Petra but, instead, JR shot him. He’s fine though. This won’t be a big thing. Side bar- he’s totally into the Petra and JR thing. Sucks for him, JR is tapping out.
Raf is everything. He is being so sweet and understanding. Also, jumping in to save Petra from her crazy shenanigans, such a Raf thing to do.
Ro wants to bring back the Michael/Rogelio bromance. Jason totally isn’t into it.
Michael’s mom is around and she’s not being a total b*tch to Jane. Woohoo! No, scratch that, she’s still pushy and judgey.
Then we have Louisa! Rose is trying to win her back. Yes, that’s her ex step-mother.
Jane can’t stop seeing Michael with a super creepy Day of the Dead mask on. I have a feeling that might mean something. Just not sure what, yet. The doctors don’t know anything. Jane has to spend time with Jason/Michael to help him regain his memories. Jane decides she doesn’t feel like she is married to him. She’s super bummed that Raf didn’t propose to her {same.} She doesn’t know what to tell Matteo. Oh, poor Matteo! He’ll be so confused.
Okay, Jane is officially losing her shit {and pants}. Xo’s face is priceless, though.
So, Jane has to take Jason on a tour of their special places to try to spark his memory. Jason has absolutely no personality. How is it possible that he is even more dull than Michael. I think I despise him.
Petra seems suspicious when she see Michael. Does she know something? Seems like it. She’s gotten rid of Milosz. Why is Milosz so dweeby now? Didn’t he used to be legit scary?
OMG Rogelio wants to talk about his feelings! I love it. He is really struggling with this!
Whoa Raf’s crying and Xo’s comforting him! Now I’m tearing up. Raf, you perfect, beautiful man. Sobbing.
Of course, Jane sits down to write and everything becomes crystal clear. She remembers how Raf saved her at Michael’s funeral. She realizes she loves Raf and that he’s been incredibly selfless. She loves him! But the dang narrator with the foreshadowing. I can’t take it.
Petra lays her heart on the line for JR. Petra has really become likeable over the past four seasons. JR is still a hard pass.
So, Jason can’t operate a computer. I hate him.
Louisa decides to go to Rose and find out why she took Michael. Why? Why? Why? Then we see Rose with a totally sinister lady gang. What is she up to???
NO! We have to wait until next week.
Jane the Virgin Final Season Predictions:
We are definitely not convinced by this Jason character’s story. There is definitely more. Maybe he is actually Michael’s long lost twin brother?
Maybe it is Michael but he doesn’t have amnesia? He seemed to react when Jane opened the door after he took his dog for a walk and when his mom mentioned her divorce.
Maybe Petra knows something? She seemed awfully suspicious when she saw Michael. Also, Michael seemed to recognize her. Could it be someone from Petra’s past?
What is with the one dude in Rose’s lady gang? What are they up to? I need answers!
