Don’t judge…or do (with age I don’t seem to care as much), but I enjoy pretty much any show that is produced by Bravo, particularly their reality tv. My husband always teases me about this. He’ll say, “You’re too smart to watch shows like that.” But, on the contrary, I think that is the exact reason why I indulge in Vanderpump Rules or Housewives of anywhere, just to name a few. I love the mindless drama, the somewhat relatable storylines of women trying to make it in the world, and the not-so-relatable lavish lifestyles. I can put my mind on pause and just take it in without overthinking every second of it. On that note, I was very excited to watch the first episode of the new season of Housewives of Orange County, the OG housewives. The episode started with the oh-so-thoughtful…”The line between love and hate…loyalty and betrayal…” Yes, I was hooked already. After a previously tumultuous season of fighting between Vicki and Shannon, Vicki and Tamra, and Kelly and Shannon (and there was more…)…a new season opens, promising that relationships have been mended…
Straight Recap/Highlights:
- The new episode starts with Tamra and Eddie moving into a new place together. They want to host a housewarming party, but SURPRISE, Eddie doesn’t want Vicki there…
- Shoot over to Vicki with her new man and talks of them officially moving in together…the big takeaway is Vicki’s remorse for her actions and love for the girls on the show (namely, Shannon and Vicki)
- On to Shannon, who is in a new house and bickering with her teenage daughter…divorce stuff…etc.
- Then to that crazy b*tch, Kelly! She is with her daughter and recapping her life post-split from Michael…a new, smaller home (but probably bigger than most people’s), helping her daughter with math homework or her talking about being in her prime…
- The theme of the season, which seems to be…”GOOD VIBES ONLY” (I love it already)
- Eddie’s surgery
- Then, meet Emily, one of the new housewives….party planner and attorney. Her and husband got married after being friends and then him suddenly saying, “hey let’s get married” via google chat? A little odd…I’m not sure about this one yet…
- Back to Shannon…much of this episode is about her getting over David and her marriage. She’s so sad and it’s so sad to watch. BUT then she shows up in a helmet for a ropes course…and she’s back!
Overall, the episode was enjoyable. Shannon’s struggle is probably very relatable to many viewers, and it’s hopeful to see that she’s gotten healthier and she even took that damn wedding ring off. It’s also hopeful to see that the core group of women have truly put their past issues behind them and are in it for some fun this season. I’m not sure about the new girl yet, and there is still another new girl to meet, but the season looks promising. The fighting between Vicki and Tamra was getting old, and it looks like they felt the same way.
