Summertime screams backyard BBQs, lightning bug catching, long evenings on the porch, sipping some summertime wine and of course FIREWORKS. (That kind of sounds like the beginning of a country song, doesn’t it?) Fireworks are always so much fun to watch around the Fourth of July, we love watching from a distance. The kid’s eyes always seem to sparkle a little more when watching fireworks.
So to help us get deeper into the swing of summer it is time for some firework slime. I think slime is one of the easiest things to make when it comes to being crafty. Even all those non-crafty moms can make this! I promise it is very easy and keeps the kids entertained for a little bit. And aren’t we always looking for ways to keep our “bored” kids something to do?
Here’s everything you need to make this fun craft.
- Glue (clear or white)
- Contact Solution
- Food Coloring
- Glitter (optional)
- Baking Soda
Here’s how you put everything together.
Take your glue and put the entire bottle into a bowl. Now add one half a cup of water and stir it together.
Next, you will need to add your food coloring, I used 10 drops to make it vibrant.
Then you will add in one and a half teaspoons of baking soda and glitter, and stir it all together. Finally, add in three tablespoons of contact solution. Mix it well and then take it out of the bowl and knead it until it is no longer sticky. If your slime is sticky add more contact solution to help firm it up.
And that’s it! See, told you it was easy. Once your kids have gotten their fill of slime, just pop the slime into a plastic baggie and it will stay fresh for a while as long as there is no air in the bag.
