I’m a huge fan of the Bachelor franchise. I’ve watched it since Trista and Ryan for goodness sake. But, I’m going to call a spade a spade here and point out that the intentions of these dudes are no longer genuine. Nick Viall has admitted to doing the show because he wanted to become an actor {2 seasons as a contestant, a season as The Bachelor, and a round of Dancing with the Stars… and now he’s in a Hallmark Christmas movie}. Bye, Nick, bye.
Which leads to my question, why? Why, Arie? Why do you want to return to the Bachelor franchise to find love? In case you’re not up to speed, Arie is from Emily Maynard’s season and was in the final two in 2012 {now 6 years ago}. After the show, it seems like his race car driving career came to an end and he became a realtor {I mean if you wanted a realtor, Arie’s doppelganger Tarek is newly single}. I feel like the plot will thicken when we find out that Arie has a product or service he’s coming out with soon. What is the deal?
My next question goes to ABC. Why, oh why, did you {ABC} pass up all the other options of Bachelors for Arie? Let me list them:
- Peter (Rachel’s season)
- Eric (Rachel’s season) #teameric
- Dean (Rachel’s season)
- Ben Higgins (since ABC is into the 3rd time’s a charm thing)
- Anyone besides Arie.
I just can’t wrap my head around this decision or this season {it’s making me irrational}. Typically, media outlets will bash the cast of contestants based on their name, outfit choices, career paths, and so on. I will NOT bash the female contestants or make fun of their shortcomings. Instead, let’s count the ways that Arie has proven he’s not worthy of The Bachelor title.
- Race car driver turned realtor {who does that?!}.
- He’s 36 years old.
- He’s made several reality tv appearances since being on The Bachelorette in 2012.
- His nickname is “the kissing bandit.” {barf}
- The season of The Bachelor he was on isn’t even online to watch {stone age}.
- He has no game, he just makes out.
- When one of the girls gets a gift, Arie acts like HE bought it for them {nah girl, that’s product placement and promotions}.
I’m hoping my anger subsides and this season goes by quickly. I’ve gone from a loyal Monday night watcher to ‘eh, I can miss the last hour.’
